How to Create Powerful Instagram Captions

When it comes to social media, captions and hashtags are incredibly important for supporting wider growth of posts, past just the people who already like your page. However, many brands ignore captions, giving short quotes or just an emoji with no text. Captions are the place to promote your call to action and ensure that you turn followers into customers.

So, how do you create the perfect caption?

1. Avoid long captions

There is a fine line between too little and too much text when it comes to captions. Provide context for the photograph or graphic in your caption and show off your personality. However, don’t bore them! Be friendly, as Instagram is a casual social network. A direct caption with humour, information and a short call-to-action are the most effective in gaining engagement and an active audience.

2. Encourage Engagement

Instagram likes engaging posts and will reward you with an enhancement f your profile, defeating the tricky algorithms. So, to ensure that your profile is successful as it can be, make sure that you use your captions to promote engagement. Encourage your audience to like, comment or tag their friends in the post to get the most engagement. Start with a question or call-to-action, as more often than not Instagram will only show the first part of your caption in a feed. An intriguing question will encourage your audience to open up and view the caption, increasing engagement.

3. Emojis

Instagram is an informal platform, so adjust your tone of voice (and emoji use) to suit this. As we said don’t just stick to one emoji as this isn’t engaging. However, using emojis with texts can highlight the relaxed and fun side of your brand. Use the speaker image to highlight an exciting announcement or arrows to point out to your audience an important piece of information. It’s important to have fun, but not overuse the emojis to ensure that your audience is engaged but also don’t find your cringey or see that you’re trying too hard.

All of these things considered should create an engaging post that your followers, like and comment on. Remember, the more engaging the better your profile is going to do in the Instagram algorithm, so get involved with using captions!
