The bounce rate of your website indicates the percentage of people who land on your webpage but then leave without clicking elsewhere on the website. These single-page visitors suggest that your user didn’t find what they were looking for or weren’t interested in your webpage, which affects your Google SEO.
Therefore, a high bounce rate can be detrimental to your inbound marketing strategy. This is because your website evidently isn’t working for your customers.
So, How Do We Solve This?
1. Why Did This Happen?
Firstly consider why your customer may have clicked off the page so quickly. This high bounce rate could be one of two reasons;
a) The webpage was too difficult to use
b)The visitor didn’t find what they were looking for
Once you have checked and independently tested the website you should be able to rule out the first reason. Now, you have to work out how you can advertise your website to the right type of audience as well as create useful content that keeps them on the site. the longer your customer is on the site, the more they are getting out of the page and the more likely they are to use your service or buy your product. So, evidently, bounce rates do matter!
2. Know Your Audience
As we’ve mentioned above you need to understand who your audience is in order to target your content correctly as well as reduce your bounce rate and create the right type of content online.
Choose the right keywords to attract an audience that would enjoy your content and stay on your site. These carefully planned keywords can then be used on multiple landing pages for different types of visitors.
3. Create Good Quality Content
Ensure that people are staying on your site and the bounce rate decreases by creating content that they want to read. Don’t use clickbait titles as your customer will soon release they’ve been dupped and click off the page. Plus, they’re less likely to come back and read more of your content after this.
Ensure that your body of text is easy to read with clear headings and the type of language that your audience uses. Add a clear call to action or link to other pages that they may find interesting to keep them on the site.
Once you’ve focused on creating a good and clear website, consider your target audience when creating Google Ads. However, this is a whole other topic, so keep an eye on our blog to find out more about this soon.
